Here is a list of general advice for female models that covers most shoots you will be booked for. Obviously, some advice depends on the type of shoot you are doing but if you follow these guidelines you won't go far wrong.

Hair & Make Up

  • Unless discussed with your photographer, arrive at the shoot with as much of your hair and make-up done as possible. Not every studio will have the same facilities as you are used to at your own home. This is even more true if you are shooting on location. Showing up as ready as you can be will create a good first impression and it will show you've arrived ready to shoot.

Clothing

It never hurts to bring a selection of your own clothes to a shoot, even when your outfits have been discussed. It can spark ideas and lead to creative outcomes that hadn't been considered. The worst case scenario is that your clothes never leave your bag.

Body Hair

  • Unless discussed with your photographer, armpits, bikini line, legs should be freshly shaven/waxed.

Do not travel to the shoot wearing anything that is tight against your body in case it leaves marks on your skin. These marks can take time to fade and may delay shooting.

  • Don't wear a bra, underwear, socks or a wristwatch.

  • A sweatshirt and sweatpants are ideal.

Hydration

Focus on hydration for two days before your shoot. Your skin will look so much better.
